From the remotest Regions in which British Authority is established,
MAY IT PLEASE YOUR MAJESTY
graciously to hear the voice of your devoted and faithful Subjects, (and of such of us as are Foreigners, residing under the protection of YOUR MAJESTY'S Government,) conveying the assurance of their prayers to the Almighty for the success of YOUR MAJESTY'S arms, their sympathies in the sufferings and sacrifices, which are the painful, but necessary result of vast warlike operations, their confidence that the great struggle in which our Country is engaged will be brought to an honourable and glorious termination, and their unshaken Loyalty and affectionate attachment to YOUR MAJESTY'S Person and Government.
The distance which intervenes between us, and the Land of our Birth, has in no respect diminished our love for our free Institutions, our reverence for the person of YOUR MAJESTY, our interest and solicitude in the progress of those momentous events from whose field of action we are so far removed. And while we express to YOUR MAJESTY our strong conviction that the War in which YOUR MAJESTY'S Forces are so honourably engaged is equally just and inevitable, we beg respectfully to join in the general expression of the desires and the confidence of your people, that this contest, so unavoidably entered on, should be vigorously pursued, until, through the favour of Divine Providence, it be brought to a thoroughly satisfactory and triumphant termination, by the recognition of the claims of Justice, and the overthrow of the pretensions of Oppression and Tyranny.
We rejoice that the wise policy of YOUR MAJESTY'S Government has led to an intimate alliance with the great French Empire, and anticipate from that alliance an additional security for the future peace of the World, and permanent benefits resulting to the Human Race.
